Funny thing happened this morning... Today's entry in the daily meditation book I peruse every morning coincided perfectly with one of Brian's recent pod casts...
No matter how insignificant the thing you have to do,
do it as well as you can,
give it as much of your care and attention as you would give to the thing
you regard as most important.
~ Mahatma Gandhi
But wait, there's more... I happened upon this verse just after I lit a candle given to me by a former partner who recently hurt me deeper than anything I've ever experienced. Even though I love the scent (amber and Moroccan rose) and the sentiment (loving kindness) of this candle, I hadn't used it in weeks. (I think I have been consciously & subconsciously practicing the art of avoidance...)
And then, today, weird shit like: a symbol of a former lover, a tool meant to enhance loving kindness, and a reminder to do everything with all your heart, collides within the first hour I'm awake!
I've been a bit geeked about this all day, but it's led me to some interesting insights I thought I might share...

~ The essence of unconditional love is the ability to release unhealthy
attachments while maintaining healthy ones. The trick is in recognizing the
difference.

~ Often times, when we injure others, it is not because we harbor ill will towards
them, it is because we harbor hatred towards ourselves that interferes with how
we act towards others.

~ As much as it sucks, providing space to love someone who has hurt you can be
liberating.
liberating.
So here goes... I'm setting an intention to practice loving kindness meditation focused toward anyone I've ever felt injured by for the next few days. I wonder what kind of energy that will stir up!

Powerful Powerful! Yay for you! Here I am staring at numbers… and take a break to read a bit…. I am so happy for you.. yes, the power of forgiveness is empassioned by Love… it’s amazing how much “more” you get when you “make space”…. and I can SO empathize with the learning to love someone who has hurt you. The energy does feel much more positive when we practice to Love when it’s most challenging for us to do so! It’s like plugging into a good fully-grounded socket of Pure Energy!

” I wonder what kind of energy that will stir up!”
